Damaris Bourland visited SHHS on Wednesday, April 10th to work with students to explore aging. Students experienced various characteristics and challenges of aging adults including cataracts, glaucoma, yellowing of the lens and diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. They went on to experience arthritis, hearing loss, diabetic nerve loss in fingers and feet, and general disorientation. We had a great time and gained a better appreciation and understanding for many challenges elderly people face each day.
